Picking out bridesmaids dresses and groomsman suits was one of my favorite tasks in wedding planning! I knew right away what I was looking for in the bridesmaid dresses. When I started looking, I kept our venue and time of year in mind. With our day being at the end of spring and our venue a winery, I knew right away the dresses should be something romantic, soft and floor length. For the groomsmen, Luis and I both liked the classic tuxedo look, simple and black. Then Luis added a black shirt to stand out, which I loved.

Wedding dress shopping was so fun and so different then what I expected that moment to be. There were so many things going on in my head in choosing the perfect dress, I felt a bit overwhelmed. I went into it not really knowing exactly what I wanted. I really just had the knowledge of avidly watching “Say Yes to the Dress” and Pinterest of course haha! With my learning process and tips I learned on the way, I hope this puts at least one bride-to-be at ease.
When wedding planning starts it is hard to figure out what needs to be done first. Finding the right venue definitely sets the tone and provides a base for wedding planning. Not only do you want a place that is the perfect setting for your big day, but there are so many other things to keep in mind. Is the venue in our budget? Do they allow alcohol and if so what kind? Is there a place for the bride to get ready or wait? How late can you celebrate? Are they restricted to their own vendors? Yes, it’s a lot and one of the decisions I struggled with the most, but honestly take your time because you will end up find something you love!
When I first started looking at venues I had no clue what went into each one. All venues are different and there are many questions to ask, but before you make the trek out to the venue here are 5 very important topics to ask…
To say I am beyond excited to show our wedding pics on the blog is an understatement! I honestly can’t believe it has been over 2 months since we said “I do”. Time flies unbelievably fast. Luis and I have been together for over 6 years now and I still get giddy around him just like when we first met. I am still currently trying to wrap my head around calling the guy I met in college my husband. Or even just saying the word husband haha! People ask us if wedding life is different at all and I don’t feel much has changed just honestly feels amazing :). I feel so blessed everyday to call my best friend my husband.
Our wedding was at the end of spring, which ended up working out wonderfully for us. I was so in love with our venue, the weather was perfect, the details tied together wonderfully, the guests were happy and the food (and drinks) were amazing. I will have to say, like most brides will tell you, our wedding day went by extremely fast. Our photographer, Mirelle captured our day beautifully and I absolutely love looking back at our photos remembering our special moments. Luis and I really wanted our day to be about love and celebrating with our family and close loved ones.
I will be sharing more details about our wedding doing a post every wednesday , until I run out of wedding ideas :). I’ll be sharing more photos, details, tips and advice because there is so much that happens. I’d love to help in any way I can for future brides. Wedding inspiration from all over the internet (especially Pinterest) definitely helped me in the direction of how Luis and I wanted our wedding to turn out. Since Luis is from Mexico I wanted to incorporate a spanish vibe while also giving it a traditional american vibe. I forget who told me, but in the middle of all our planning someone mentioned I was a “classic” type of bride. With that in mind and as we wait for our awesome photos of our big day, I wanted to share some wedding inspiration that helped me with our decor. The vibe we went for was “spanish romantic meets chic” (basically a made up vibe, but the vibe we went for haha!). You can also check out our awesome engagement photos here in this post!
